Singapore National Council of Social Services
The Charity Management Solution was implemented for the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) and some 350 volunteer welfare organisations under its umbrella.
Prior to the deployment, the majority of the volunteer welfare organisations in Singapore were functioning manually, resulting in slow or inefficient services to clients. The manual processes also made it difficult for the organisations to compile relevant statistics and to generate reports that were needed for more effective planning. Resources at these volunteer welfare organisations were also limited, and the situation was exacerbated by the absence of checks to ensure the proper distribution of these resources.
To address these challenges, SCS designed and implemented the Charity Management Solution, which encompassed both hardware and software. In all, about 14 turnkey applications (Eg: Fund Raising System, Purchase Requisition System, Volunteer Management System) and 2 SAP systems (HR and Finance) were installed at the NCSS headquarters for NCSS and volunteer welfare organizations.
These applications were grouped according to sectors which had different information requirements. The sectors included: disabled services, children and youth services, family support and community care services, family services centres, elderly services, aftercare and rehabilitation services, as well as medical and health services.
The organisations were equipped with PCs and the relevant office automation, accounting and payroll applications. Local area networks and connections to the NCSS host computer enabled the organisations to share and retrieve information required for their operations. |
